Core ACT processes and their Techniques - Beginning Workshops
Presenter: Mary Sawyer

In this series of 2 full day sessions, over 2 Fridays, participants will be introduced to and will practice the main techniques used in each of the six ACT core therapeutic processes: Acceptance, Experiential Avoidance, Cognitive Defusion, Contact with the Present Moment, Self as Context and Defining Valued Directions. You will be guided step-by step toward mastering these core processes by Mary Sawyer, an experienced ACT practitioner and trainer.
 
In the beginning Workshops you will:-

1.Learn the six ACT core processes and how to do the basic interventions for an ACT-based treatment.
2.Develop a greater understanding of what it is like to be an ACT client.
3.Obtain in session feedback on your implementation of ACT techniques in a small group.
4.Develop an understanding of ACT case conceptualisation.

The workshop will begin with an introduction to ACT and the hexaflex model and the remainder of time will be spent on a series of experiential and skills building exercises in pairs and the larger group. Mindfulness and experiential exercises will play a significant role throughout the workshops.

Core ACT processes and their Techniques - Advanced Workshops
Presenter: Mary Sawyer

In this series of 2 full day sessions, over 2 Fridays, participants will have the opportunity to improve and master your ACT competencies.  You will be guided step-by step toward mastering these core processes by Mary Sawyer, an experienced ACT practitioner and trainer.
 
In the Advanced Workshops you will:-

1.Learn how to use and apply ACT resources and advance your core competencies
2.Develop greater psychological flexibility in session and improve your own mindfulness.
3.Target the barriers to your clinical competence by role playing challenging clients.
4.Learn to be less entangled, less burnt out and improve your creativity in session.

Initial exercises will be conducted in groups 2 or 4  and the results will be processed within the small group and the larger group as a whole. 
The workshop will contain significant use of mindfulness and present-moment focused work and how to bring  this and valued directions directly into interventions.
Experiential role-plays that are close to real clinical interactions will be practiced with the view of improving your case conceptualisations.

No refund if cancelled 5 days prior to the Seminar. If you cancel prior to that, a $50.00 administration fee applies.

 

Supervision in ACT

Professional supervision in ACT is offered in NSW by Mary Sawyer.
Supervision entails individual sessions between Mary and the practitioner or can also be undertaken in small groups.
Costs vary depending on group size and the desired length of each supervision session.
Mary is available for supervision and advice via the internet using skype and a webcam for those outside travelling distances. Please call Mary on +61 2 9386 5356 or email her to arranage supervision by this method.
Face to face supervision times can be arranged at your convenience.
